Summer Survival Tips for Moms from the Nervous Systers
We’re so excited to share a behind-the-scenes look at something we’ve been working on—our upcoming podcast, Nervous Systers.
It’s not live on podcast platforms just yet, but we couldn’t wait to start the conversation. So we recorded a little something for our community: a real-talk episode on summer stress, motherhood, and why doing less can actually mean more.
💭 Lower the Bar, Raise the Connection
Summer can feel like a lot. The pressure to create magical memories, manage kids 24/7, and still hold it all together leaves many moms feeling like they’re drowning in expectations.
In this first chat, we get honest about:
Letting go of Pinterest-perfect ideals
Embracing “good enough” parenting
Why sitting down to share a popsicle sometimes matters more than planning the perfect outing
“We’re not meant to be cruise directors,” Amber says. “Sometimes connection looks like slowing down.”
🧠 Nervous Systems Don’t Take the Summer Off
Victoria brings her lens as a therapist and a mom, reminding us that kids have nervous systems too. Big transitions (like school ending) can be destabilizing—and kids need structure, routine, and co-regulation to feel safe.
She shares simple ways to notice what your child might be telling you through their behavior—and how you can ground yourself first to support them.
🧺 Our Go-To Summer Hacks
We also get practical, because survival mode is real:
Keep snack buckets in the car to cut down on hangry outbursts
Outsource what you can—from lunches to activities
Stick with “good enough” routines to help everyone feel settled
💆♀️ It’s Okay to Need a Break
Self-care is not selfish, especially when your kids need you regulated and present. Sometimes that’s a walk alone, sometimes it’s skipping a playdate. The key is giving yourself permission.
“We can’t support our kids if we’re falling apart inside,” Victoria shares.
